Contemporary Literature

The story No Ordinary Matter by Jenny McPhee features a character named Veronica Moore, a half-pack-a-day smoker who hated being told she couldn't smoke any more. The charcter and the style are both great examples of contemporary literature. Veronica goes on in the story to write for a daytime drama show.

She falls in love with Alex Drake, who plays a neurologist on her daytime drama show. This is something about No Ordinary Matter which capture s the same effects as some of Mark Twain's humor.
